Certain works can also be shipped unframed if you prefer to use your own framer, or are shipping overseas and would like a more economical option. Unframed works are carefully packaged to archival standards and include professional framing guidance.

About the Work

I have been working weekly through my Journal de Bord series for several years—an ongoing practice rooted in real-time observation, much like a captain's log. This approach is inspired by the Japanese shichijni ko calendar, where each micro-season lasts only a few days. Nature is constantly changing, and I strive to capture those fleeting moments before they vanish.

This piece is part of my Journal de Bord series, shared with my catalogue subscribers each week. In this entry, I reflect on what I observed in nature, how the piece unfolded, and the specific moment that inspired the work. Below is the journal entry to go alongside this artwork.

Entrée n° 93

We’re very lucky in Bath to have such a beautiful canal network — the Kennet & Avon Canal stretches 87 miles, linking the River Avon in Bath to the River Thames in Reading. It means I can travel from A to B almost entirely off-road, following the towpath alongside the water.

Even though many of the leaves have already fallen after the recent storm, the hazel along the canal is still glowing with its last autumn colour. The branches are full and busy, and in the small gaps you can already see the beginnings of the catkins — still tight and not yet open. These will lengthen and flower in late winter and early spring.

It felt as though the trees were in a moment of transition — still holding autumn, but already preparing for what comes next. I wanted to paint that crossover: the contrasting colours of autumn foliage, and, tucked within the canopy, the first signs of winter forming.
