Weekly Roundup No. 8
It is good to be back. Past two weeks I have been in Thailand which was a wonderful break which forced me to change all my habits. I did a lot of reflection while away, as Phuket you have nothing to do but relax and tick over your thoughts. I was thinking of things I want to do this year. One of them being appear on a podcast, I have learnt so much being an artist would love to talk about the business side of things to help people know some of the lessons I have learned. Any recommendations of podcasts I could go on email me.
i. I saw this article retweeted by Grayson Perry. Jerry Saltz had written it in 2014 and I can't believe how relevant it is still now! I had been trying to think what this current art world felt like and he summed it up. It couldn't be more closer to the truth. Article title : Zombies on the Walls: Why Does So Much New Abstraction Look the Same?
ii. My father sent me this video animated by Steve Cutts. It is a view into our current world, it is bleak but after being on holiday I do feel addicted to my phone, and I want change.
iii. For Christmas I got a Picture House Membership, so chuffed. Can't wait to start going more. Mary and the Witch's Flower is a film I am looking forward to in 2018.
v. New thing I am trying this year is Wunderworkshops CBD oil. I take it to keep seizures at bay. I know CBD has a number of healing factors for other things like anxiety and inflammation.
vi. Friday 19th of January is my private view at Botany 2:00- 4:30. I am really looking forward to a really relaxed event. If you fancy coming do pop in its open to all. Refreshments will be served.
vii. I saw a photo on my friend Polly of Bayntun Flowers instagram page of the David Spriggs installation at Messums Wiltshire. Going to try head that way next week and take a look it looks beautiful!
